What does a move fusion require?
The official Season 2 article says to take two moves to maximum level and use Bill’s Machine. It describes one machine per map, and one per land in Survival. A double helix of light marks the machine when a fusion is ready.
Getting a move into your kit is a separate requirement from maximizing it. The older move-learning reference explains signature, evolution-line and shared League offers. A move visible in that reference is not necessarily learned, leveled or eligible for fusion in the current run.
The announced Bill’s Machine flow
- Learn the two moves you intend to combine and bring both to their displayed maximum levels.
- Find Bill’s Machine in the current map or Survival land. When ready, inspect its available combinations.
- Read the pair and missing requirements. The announcement gives “Flamethrower Lv. 6/8” as an example of an unfinished prerequisite.
- Check which move occupies the first slot in the chosen pair: the fusion takes that slot and frees the other.
- After use, the machine cools down. Read the current prompt before planning another fusion; the announcement does not give a cooldown duration.
The article says the machine lists move pairs and shows what an unavailable pair is missing. Your partner’s signature combination remains visible even if you do not yet have one of its ingredients. Visibility is therefore a reference aid, not proof that the action is ready.
Announced signature fusions for the three starters
| Partner | Two source moves | Named fusion | Described behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bulbasaur | Razor Leaf + Solar Beam | Flower Beam | A solar beam with razor leaves and a finishing petal burst |
| Charmander | Fire Spin + Flamethrower | Fiery Whirlwind | A pulling fire vortex, spiraling flames and an explosion |
| Squirtle | Rapid Spin + Hydro Pump | Hydro Spiral | A shell spin with two sweeping water jets |
These are the partner examples named by the project, not a reason to restart with a different starter. We have not measured their damage, survival time, aim behavior or item interactions. Choose a familiar partner first, then compare a fusion against your actual run’s needs.
How the 106 announced fusions are grouped
- 79 signature fusions
- One per League member, using two moves from that member’s kit.
- 8 reaction fusions
- Pairs representing the two sides of an elemental reaction; the fusion is described as triggering that reaction itself.
- 18 type fusions
- Pairs of the same type. Examples named in the announcement include Tidal Wave and Eternal Blizzard.
- MissingNo.
- The fallback for another pair; each cast is described as a random type fusion.
Those groups total 106. They are not 106 new League members or a complete list of recipes verified here. In particular, two familiar move names do not establish a signature combination unless the current reference or the official article identifies that pair.
What changes after combining the moves?
The announcement says the fusion inherits upgrades from both source moves, occupies the first move’s slot and leaves the other free to learn an attack. For a full kit, that released slot is the practical distinction from merely upgrading one existing move.
Further fusion upgrades are described as ★1 to ★5, or ★6 with the TM Case, through regular upgrade cards. The article separately says TM Case raises ordinary move levels to 10. Do not mix an ordinary move’s level with a fusion’s star progression.
Weather moves, boosters and other fusions cannot be fused, according to the article. A fusion is therefore not an unlimited chain of combining every result. How inherited modifiers resolve, how the game orders slots and how extra-level items affect eligibility still need direct checks.
Why is a combination unavailable?
- Check whether the released version actually includes the system; an old open tab may still run an earlier client.
- Distinguish a recipe shown for reference from two moves learned in the current run.
- Read both displayed level requirements and the machine’s cooldown state.
- Check whether an ingredient is weather, a booster or a fusion, which the article excludes.
- Record the partner, both move panels, machine prompt and version before reporting an unexplained mismatch.
Archive, Banish, forgetting a move and fusion are different tools. The Lab announcement changes item-pool capacity; it does not confirm the community’s proposals for unlimited item archiving or a separate move Archive. Read the dated Lab reference and the current in-game prompts before spending a limited resource.
